Medical Traveler FAQ
Q: How do I become a travel therapist or nurse with TravelMed USA?
A: The first step to becoming a traveling therapist or nurse is to complete a quick contact form. If you have a few more minutes we recommend that you take some time to fill out your travel profile. This process does not take much time at all. All we need are some of your basic travel interests, skills checklist, two professional references, and a copy of your resume. After that we can start marketing your resume to selected facility settings and preferred areas of travel. All of your information is kept strictly confidential.
Q: What happens once I submit my quick contact form?
A: Once we receive your contact information, one of our recruiting agents will contact you to begin the process of finding the right assignment for you. If you have completed your travel profile already, this process will move even faster. You and your recruiter will work together to find the travel therapy or nursing jobs that best suit your skills, preferences and career ambitions.
Q: What are the minimum requirements to be a traveler with TravelMed USA?
A: You must be a graduate of an accredited professional program, and have recent experience in your specialty. A: Once we receive your quick contact form and traveler profile your recruiter will contact you to discuss what you want to achieve throughout your travel career. You and your recruiting agent will work together to find assignments that best suit your skills, preferences and career ambitions. Once you have found a travel job that interests you, your recruiter will forward your travel profile to the facility and a telephone interview will be scheduled.
Q: When have I made a commitment to travel?
A: Following your telephone interview with the facility, you and the facility’s hiring manager will decide if the assignment is right for you. Q: How will I get to my assignment?
A: It’s best to drive or have your vehicle transported to your assignment destination. This will give you the freedom to explore your new surroundings and to go sightseeing when you’re away from work. If you take an assignment in a city where parking is scarce and there is a reliable transportation system, you can probably do without a car. Regardless of how you get to your destination, we will provide you with a tax advantage travel reimbursement.
Q: Can I choose a travel job close to home?
A: Yes, in most cases you can. Through our local assignment program, we will work with you to find an assignment that is in close proximity to your hometown. Plus, you can enjoy many of the perks and benefits of long-distance travelers.
Q: Will I work full-time or part-time?
A: All of our assignments are for full time 36- or 40-hour weeks. Many assignments also offer the opportunity to work overtime.
Q: Will someone help me with the licensing requirements for different states?
A: Your recruiter and quality management specialist will advise you on the specific requirements for each state and the length of time necessary to obtain a license in the state where you want to take an assignment. They will help you every step of the way to make the process as simple as possible. For more information, go to our licensure information page. After you complete an assignment with TravelMed USA in the location where your new license is issued, TravelMed USA will reimburse you the cost of the license in full.
